To our students,
Sharp Edgez Barber Institute has signed and returned the Department of Education’s Certification and Agreement and intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. Sharp Edgez has received $109,786 from the Department for distribution to a total of, approximately, 37 eligible students. As of 1/3/2022 we have issued approximately $106,548.84 to 36 students.
The methodology used was simply to divide the funds equally among Title IV eligible students.
Any HEERF funds disbursed from 6/17/20 forward must be disbursed only to students who meet eligibility criteria under Section 484 of the HEA.
Those eligibility criteria include:
Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at sharp Edgez Barber Institute and:

Maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Not owe a refund on grants

Not be in default on any student loans

Sign a Statement of Educational Purpose

Provide documentation of SSN

Be a US Citizen or Eligible Non-Citizen

Must not have been convicted on Title IV fraud

Cannot be enrolled in an online program

student cannot have Unusual circumstances which disqualifies them from financial aid

Eligibility dates - must have been enrolled and attending class on March 16, 2020

LOA’s prior to COVID - Students who do not return for a reason that is not COVID-19 related do not qualify for the grant.
Grants are first come first serve and these funds will run out. Eligible students have been issued a check by mail.
